 CLIL  AUCTION

Hey, friends. Welcome again to Vik's Educa-tips Blog.

I hope you know about CLIL approach because in today post I'm gonna bring you a CLIL activity for our fifth graders students. In case you don't know what I am talking about I'll briefly explain you:

CLIL (or AICLE in Spanish) is an approach recently introduced in Europe in order to improve the L2 skills of pupils. The key point is that students increise their language skills at the same time they learn the curricular contents.

In this case the activity I bring you is "CLIL Auction", it is a good tool to check the knowledge regarding to contents of our students while CLIL lessons are carried out.

CLIL Auction

Students: 5th Graders.

Unit: Heat and Thermal Energy. Conduction, Convection and Radiation.

Aim: To check contents in a CLIL way.

Timing: Last activity of the lesson.

Instructions:

0- Each group has a number of points to keep. Every time they participate and say the correct answer they do not lose a point. If the answer is incorrect, the next group can remove the point while keeping their own.

1- Divide students into groups.

2- In turns, each group has to answer whether a sentence (related to the contents) is true or false. The sentences will be projected on the screen or IWB. Before answering, all members of a group should debate and reach a consensus on whether the sentence is true or false. One of the members, whose role is speaker, will say the final decision.

3- If a group is wrong, there is a rebound. Of course, students need to justify why anyway.

Extra:

If a gamification system such as Classcraft or ClassDojo is used in the classroom, the points will be related to these applications.

Examples of sentences: The sentences may or may not be accompanied by an image. Let's  see both cases.

  • In conduction, thermal energy travels through a liquid or gas (False).

WELCOME BACK TO A NEW POST AT VIK'S EDUCATIPS On this occasion I bring you an INFOGRAPHIC . Do you know what it is? Infographics can be defined as visual representations of data or information. In this case I have created this tool to use it in the Natural Science class. It is about the planets of the Solar System . I consider it a very effective way to give visual support to the students at the same time that they are more interested in learning the information. Also, I believe that it helps them to better organize and schematize content and main ideas.         In addition to bringing you this tool with an example, I want to tell you which website I have used to carry it out. Easel.ly :  I consider this application marvelous in order to make infographics. You can choose between an example template or create your own . As a result of your selection, you can continue adding all kinds of images and shapes, letter designs, backgrounds, charts and e...

MY AVATAR.

Hello fellas!! As I told you, the next post would be about me and my avatar, so here we go! This is me, Vik. I have been virtually created thanks to the Bitmoji . It is very useful and intuitive to create your own avatar and I consider it a very good tool both inside and outside the classroom. You can use anywhere and regardless the device you have, for instance, mobile phones, tablets or even computers. We can access quickly to our bitmoji by adding an extension in t he address bar or in the keyboard of our electronic devise. As I told you, I am going to mention things that I like and things that I dislike. I like.... Teach in Primary Education. Play tennis. Watch movies and eat. I dislike... People being late. Mussels. Wasting useless time with the mobile phone. As you can see, Bitmoji is a great tool in order to create more attractive and creative post. With this tool you can put better the feelings into words.  Are you going to deny me?      PROS:  ...
