The importance of slideshows

 The importance of slideshows

The slides have become a tool used in many fields, also in education. Both teachers and students use them to support their explanations, presentations and studies. That is why today I bring you a very useful tool for making slides.

As already mentioned, slides are used in a wide variety of situations. At the end of the day, we personalize the slide with the information we want, so it is useful and necessary.

The tool that I bring you today is www.genial.ly.

On this website we can create slides for free as soon as we register. However, some features won't be free.

Among the most characteristic aspects of this application we find:

  • At the beginning, we have a lot of templates on which to create our slides.
  • We differentiate between adding titles, subtitles, paragraphs, as well as different styles of letters, sizes and colors.
  • We can add images and gifts, as well as images directly from pixabay, a website already mentioned in previous posts.
  • It has different resources such as icons, shapes, maps, tables, graphs, illustrations, scenarios, social media layouts.
  • Finally, we can insert audio recordings and links to YouTube and Spotify, among others.

The most negative aspect I have found is that it will not let us download our slides once we finish them, it is paid content, we only can present them inside the website.

In my case I have chosen this tool to summarize my teaching about Unit 5: Heat and Light. We have learnt the different contents about thermal energy and ways of transferring the information. Besides, in this genial.ly I explain how to do a Science Experiment about convection "Convection Snake".
